Whānau Marae
I take this space to quietly acknowledge a small team from Auckland to demonstrate the power of whanaungatanga.
Because I had a fruiting feijoa tree, the members of our subcommittee, reluctantly , decided to make me chairman at our monthly Sunday meetings at my home. We set a goal to raise the money for an estimated two million dollar rebuild project. Try not to stare at this figure for too long as it can hurt your eyes ( it’s too scary). Our inspiration to persevere on this project was born out of the old values that our tipuna had tried to teach us. A clear vision, a desire, Join hands, one step forward. then another, love one another, have fun, keep going.
Anyway, our Timoko whanau joined hands with the Whiu. the Hogan, Cherrington, Tipene, Searanke - He Rangi, Heremaia, Martin ,Naera, Hughs, Liles and the Verstoep whanau. We felt aroha for Margaret because she ask a lot of questions, so we made her Treasurer. She was so good that we quickly made her secretary as well ,without her even asking---lucky eh.
In the mean while the home fires were burning brightly with uncle Paddy at the helm, and loyally supported by the Tipene, Letica, Tohu, Kareko, Whiu, (quite a few), Heremaia, Stewart, Loyd, Jensen, Kaka, Te Haara, Rewa, and the Matene family members. The point I'm making whanau is, we weren't there to fell the trees,or mill the logs, and swing the hammers, However our marae continues to exist and flourish, because of the huge effort and the sacrifices that our whanau members have put into our marae

What we do.
Keep the wheels turning.
Kaingahoa Marae needs a committee of people who will organise how the marae is run. This is to ensure that decisions are made in a democratic way and so all committee members take collective responsibility.
The committee conduct their business with transparency and honesty in the interest to meet what is best for the beneficiaries of Kaingahoa Marae.
Trustees, Who we are.
A team that loves to create.

KOHA
Whanau, this is a very special page. We know that none of you expect any thanks. We are aware that your heart is at the door of Tumanako and this is your way of making a difference even though this places some financial strain on you and your families.
Our committee feels it’s important to be open and transparent with our mahi, and our mahi can't be done by kind thoughts alone.
This upgrade project is making sure that the building blocks our ancestors first placed in Kaingahoa 100's of years ago will be around for our matatahi.
So whanau this page is for you, and all the others that will be joining you soon.
